Gearing up for ‘World Read Aloud Day’, benefiting literacy

The students at Trevose Day School are so excited to celebrate World Read Aloud Day on Thursday, February 1! Every day the teachers at TDS read to their students a variety of genres. The students have picked some favorites for this special day! The children in Ms. Kennedy’s pre-k room have chosen some stories about Groundhog Day. The 3rd-5th graders always look forward to continuing to read Wonder, and on Thursday, will each take a turn reading some of the chapters, too.

Our students, teachers and administrators are excited to participate in this event to advocate for literacy as a human right belonging to all. Reading aloud to children every day puts them almost a year ahead of children who are not read to every day regardless of backgrounds, according to numerous studies. And spending just 15 minutes a day can make all the difference in a child’s education. Stay tuned for clips and pictures of students on World Read Aloud Day later on in the week!
