This week with our Young Explorers, we are studying the world of engineering. For our youngest learners, they are finding out how things are built and why. They are testing structures and then finding ways to construct it better.
Throughout their week, the campers will have building challenges. Today, we built bridges and towers, and tested to see how many “people” each structure could hold. We build with Legos, wooden blocks and our new bridge kit.
The campers will also test out sailboats to see if they sink or float, build ramps for cars to test out speed and distance, and create marble mazes. Allof these activities will help them develop an early understanding of spatial awareness, engineering, and teamwork, that they can build on as they grow. These are great exercises in problem solving, particularly learning to try, fail, make adjustments, and try again!
